Statistics has been described as the science of learning from data. It includes everything from planning for the collection of data and data management, to end-product activities such as drawing conclusions from data and presentation of results. Statistics is the study of the collection, organization, analysis, interpretation and presentation of data. It deals with all aspects of data including the planning of data collection in terms of the design of surveys and experiments. When analyzing data, it is possible to use one of two statistics methodologies: descriptive statistics or inferential statistics.  The world is becoming more and more quantitative and data-focused. Many professions depend on numerical measurements to make decisions in the face of uncertainty. Using statistics, many businesses make projections from small samples to larger processes—for example: forecasting sales in business; predicting the effectiveness of new drugs; or determining insurance rates.
