6 Steps for Surviving Quarantine
The COVID-19 pandemic has given us all an opportunity to connect with ourselves and with
people that matter the most, to rediscover hidden talents, to improve our skills and so much
more. Making the best of a bad situation may not be a piece of cake, but only by trying can
you know what the possibilities are.
There are countless things you can do while staying inside, some of these suggestions might
not work for you, hopefully, they can spark some of your own ideas to try out.
1. Get your blood pumping
Exercising is an excellent way to take care of your body and mind at the same time. By
pushing your heart and muscles it improves the blood and oxygen flow, helping you feel
better and think more clearly. There are many types of exercises out there, check out
workout apps available for your Android or iOS Smartphone. Find an activity that appeals to
your style – running, dancing, cycling, etc.
2. Find your inner peace
Yoga and Meditation are some excellent ways to bring more movement into your life and
release the stress and tension in your body. They have great benefits for our mood, bringing
more calmness and balance to our thoughts and feelings. Some of the major benefits are
reduced stress and anxiety, improved sleep, and better focus.
3. Get inspired
Reading is a great habit that improves our memory and vocabulary and allows us to express
ourselves better. Few experiences can compare to immersing yourself into another world,
discovering people and places far away with life stories that inspire and amaze you.
4. Learn some new skills
Learning is a lifelong process, and it shouldn’t stop once school ends. In this age of
information, ignorance is a choice. YouTube is one of the main platforms where you can
learn almost anything: cooking, playing an instrument, creating a website, you name it. It’s
all about finding the right channel and putting knowledge into practice.
5. Professional growth possibilities
Even if almost everything is locked down right now, it won’t last forever. If you’re looking for
a part-time (or even full-time) job after your studies resume, take a few steps to prepare
yourself. Your CV is one of the most important documents during a job application, it’s the
first opportunity to impress, and you should treat it seriously. Research and build a CV that
brings out the best in you!
6. Have fun!
During this quarantine period, it’s easy to feel stressed or overwhelmed by all the news, all
the negative things you see and hear tend to influence your mood and overall wellbeing. If
you find it difficult to disconnect, playing games can help a lot.
