EVERYTHING ABOUT BOLOGNA PROCESS
European countries have signed agreements between their universities to encourage education, attract foreign students, and advancement in scientific fields around the world, as well as to educate themselves according to the requirements set forth in the agreement. The Bologna Agreement, which was signed for the first time in 1999 between 29 European countries to increase the academic standard of European universities, is one of these agreements. Following the signing of the Bologna Agreement between European countries, universities in those countries were required to upgrade their education in accordance with the agreement's requirements and to offer more educational opportunities to their students.
The Bologna Process originally included 29 countries, all of which were European countries. Later, other European and non-European countries were included, bringing the total number of countries to 47. It's important to note that universities that grant degrees to students from any of the treaty countries are approved in all of the treaty countries, and therefore in all of these countries. With his degree, he will study and work in European countries after graduating.
University education must be completed at three stages, according to the Bologna Process: bachelors, masters, and doctorate. The following are the rules outlined in this agreement for each of the university degrees.
* Undergraduate
The bachelor's degree takes a minimum of three years to complete, but if the classes are not completed, the student can continue their studies at the university for up to five years. A minimum of 180 units must be passed in this portion.
* Master’s degree
In the universities covered by this agreement, this course lasts four to six semesters. A total of at least 120 units are needed.
* PHD
While each specialization has its own time frame for the doctoral programme, at least four years is needed.
Many European countries found it easier to attract foreign students after the Bologna Agreement was signed, and as a result, the number of students attending European universities increased.
