College is a time for growth, discovering paths and gaining experience. Studying abroad during college means having a positive amplification of the experiences you gain through a completely different culture and environment. It can be stressful to figure out how to allocate your time and make the right choices about what to see and where to go abroad; consider your priorities and plan ahead to alleviate that stress. Based on student’s experience, here are some helpful tips on how to choose to study abroad as a senior second semester — if that's the perfect time to study abroad for you.

Not every study abroad programme suits seniors well. You can choose to take classes abroad to either fill out credits you have yet to complete or accomplish most of the credits you need while at your university, and take classes abroad that expose you to interests that are not within your major. You'll want to tailor your choice of location and program to your needs according to the route you take academically. Once your experience abroad is over, you won't be a full-time student anymore, so you'll need a plan for how you'll be successful as a graduate in financial terms.

Goal setting is a great method for ensuring financial success. Set them up for you, for both studying abroad and post-study abroad, and think about the steps needed to make those goals come true. Determine how much money you need to stay after your studies abroad and make a correlation budget, research job openings while abroad if needed, or even join a work-study programme if saving money is of concern.

It can be very difficult to make the decision to spend your last semester of college abroad but it can lead to one of the best — if not the best — experiences of your academic career. Many students struggle absolutely with that decision; they wonder if how much they expect to miss their familiar environment would affect them to the point of hampering their pleasure. While those fears were valid they know they had made the right choice from the moment they land in their host country. Studying abroad as a second senior semester will take you places that cannot begin to remain on campus, and will open the door beyond college for your future.
