HOW TO SWITCH COURSES IN YOUR CURRENT YEAR?

If you've just begun your course and found it's not for you, you're in luck: if you apply your application before the deadline, you may be able to change without too much difficulty. This date normally falls within the second or third week of your first semester. However, after this deadline has passed, it will be even more difficult to change courses without incurring complications. Follow these steps to make a change in your first year, within the first few weeks of class:

* Decide what course you’re changing to and why

In all universities, there are a variety of courses to choose from. So, first and foremost, be aware of all the courses available and their potential future benefits for your professional development. Then make a shortlist of the best ones that suit you. Finally, do some analysis on all of them and make a final decision.

* Consult your personal academic advisor

The first step is to talk about your decision with your personal mentor or programme leader. They will guide you as to what you should do next. This will help you plan the journey and be prepared for what's to come.

* Talk to the student services office

Every university's administrative structure is a little different, so you'll need to figure out how yours functions. Seek assistance from the student services office to accomplish this. They will help you change your direction, lead you to the appropriate departments, and tell you who you need to speak with at university.

* Fill out a questionnaire that asks you why you want to switch courses

Your student support centre or the online would have this information. If you're not sure where to get the form, ask your academic advisor or the student support office.

* Your application will be reviewed by your current department as well as the department of the course you choose to move to

To be admitted into this course, you must already meet the requisite entry criteria.

* If your application has been accepted, you will receive an email

You are free to begin your studies in the new department that you enjoy once you receive the email.
