A foundation program is a UK-inspired academic program that bridges the gap between your existing qualifications and understanding and the level required for admission to an international university's Bachelor's or Master's degree program.

Foundation programs, also known as preparatory courses or paths programs are designed to fill up any gaps in knowledge or qualifications that you may have after graduating from high school. They assist students from all over the globe in aligning their qualifications with the education system of the nation in which they wish to study abroad. Domestic and international learners from all around the world are targeted by foundation programmes. English language classes are included in courses for international students (those from other countries).

Foundation programs can be general, preparing students to begin a degree program in a certain discipline, such as foundation programs in commerce, computer science, or literature and arts.

Students normally do not receive an academic degree after completing a foundation program, but they do receive a specific level of qualification that permits them to pursue a higher education degree.

The majority of institutions in the UK and European Countries provide one-year preparatory courses (a total of 32 weeks). The majority of preparatory programs are divided into three semesters or phases, each with its own collection of modules.

Modules are divided into minor (more generic) and major (more specialized) subjects, depending on the student's future academic route. Students typically begin their foundation courses in September and graduate in time to begin their Bachelor's or Master's degrees in October the following year.

Students who desire to finish their studies quickly might enroll in intensive 6-month route courses. Faster foundation study programs begin in January and end in August. Many foreign foundation programs, on the other hand, provide flexible start dates.

The evaluation system is comparable to every other study course and includes the following components:

The foundation program might be taught either in the location of study or in the student's home nation by an organization that has a partnership with that university. A number of academic credit points are used in an assessment, which is allocated differentially for coursework and tests.
