MER CONSORTIUM GRANTS FOR EU STUDENTS

Due to its practical-oriented degrees, lifestyle, and, of course, tuition-free undergraduate degree programmes, Germany enjoys a global reputation among international students. Each semester, you simply have to pay a minimal administrative charge, but keep in mind that this only applies to public universities. Some financial aid programmes are only available to overseas students in extraordinary circumstances, and most German colleges do not offer funding opportunities. The MER Consortium Grants (MER-CG) are designed to provide financial assistance, at least in part, to outstanding MER MSc students who are not eligible for Erasmus Mundus funding.

Eligibility:

* Open to all applicants accepted as MER MSc students who are not Erasmus Mundus sponsored or ineligible for any other reason (e.g., being holder of a national scholarship).

* The student can only apply for this grant as part of and while completing the online MER Application process.

* Academic success in preceding studies must meet the MER JPB's criteria for a minimum of excellence.

* If the awarded student does not complete the academic year successfully, the JPB may request that the grant be refunded in full or in part, unless exceptional circumstances are recognized by the JPB.

* Grants will be awarded based on funds available; in the event that funds are scarce, priority will be given to applicants from the Extended MER Consortium countries.

Benefits:

Only students accepted into the MER MSc programme are eligible to apply for the three waiver categories listed below:

* Smooth Fee 3C Grant: 5400 € are provided to chosen third-country students as part of their annual registration fee (applied for and decided on an annual basis); certain pathways may be unavailable to recipients of this category grant.

* Waiver Plus Grant: Selected EU students (applied for and decided on a yearly basis) are paid 2000 € as part of their annual registration fee; certain pathways may be unavailable to holders of this category grant.

Waiver Minus Grant: 1000 € are provided as a portion of their annual registration fee to awarded EU students (applied and decided on an annual basis); no pathway limitation accounts for holders of this category grant.
