Netherlands Fellowship - Application process and Program

The Netherlands is yet another option for those who want to study abroad. It is one of the emerging markets, and there are several universities that offer a variety of unique courses. The culture, the location, and the people must all be experienced, not to mention the education. The Netherlands Government has established a scholarship programme known as the Netherland Fellowship Program for students pursuing MS and MA degrees. It is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to promote organizational capacity building. The scholarship is available in 61 countries and provides mid-career staff with training and education.
At the conclusion of the scholarship programme, the student will be the proud owner of a Masters of Arts degree, a Master of Science degree, or a Professional Master's degree. The student may study at any of the Dutch universities or academic institutions. The student can choose from a number of fields. Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries; Architecture and Town Planning; Arts and Humanities; Business Administration and Management; Education; Engineering; Environmental Science; Fine and Applied Arts; Law; Mass Communication and Information Science; Mathematics and Computer Science; Medical and Health Science; Natural Science; Tourism and Leisure; Social and Behavioral Science; and Transport and Communications are just a few examples. The application deadline is usually in early February or early May, and the course begins in September.
Students from the 61 developing countries of Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe are typically given preference for scholarships. Candidates who are members of a priority group or from a marginalized region as defined by the embassy are also given preference during the selection process. The scholarship will supplement the student's salary and will also cover the cost of tuition, visas, travel expenses, insurance, and any research expenses incurred during the study period.
The candidate must be a mid-career professional with three years of relevant work experience, a national of one of the 61 developing countries, and must be working and living in one of the countries at the time of application. She or he should be nominated by the employer, and the employer should be willing to pay the salary while she or he is still studying and should guarantee the same or equivalent position when he or she starts working. The candidate should also have been accepted by the university and met all of the criteria.
