Scholarships for education in Austria
Austria is an excellent place to receive an education for a variety of reasons. Students who wish to apply to universities in Austria to pursue their study should submit a completely filled out application as well as the appropriate documentation to that university. When the applications are submitted to the authorities, they are immediately forwarded to the universities to which you have applied.
In Austria, there are numerous options for hopefuls to obtain scholarships, and many educational institutions are willing to assist students who are there to complete their study. The OEAD offers a variety of scholarships for bachelors, masters, and doctorate degrees, but one thing to keep in mind is that there is almost no programme in Austria that is entirely funded by scholarships. Institutional or university scholarships are also available and are offered by practically all institutions; however, you must contact the international office of the university to which you have applied for more information. Scholarships in Austria require the following documents:
- A fully completed and signed application form, which is available on the Internet and which you must download in order to properly fill out
- The passport should be valid until the end of your stay in Austria; it should not expire in the interim
- An applicant's colour passport-size photograph
- The applicant must provide a certified copy of his or her birth certificate
- A copy of the applicant's certificate of good conduct from the most recent educational institute he or she attended
- Health insurance must be in place for the duration of the applicant's studies, and the certificate must be attached to the other documents
- The notification that the candidate has received regarding his acceptance to a specific Austrian university
- A financial proof that the applicant is financially secure enough to cover all of his living expenses and tuition payments if he/she has not received any scholarships and if he/she has, there would still be a lot of expenses to cover
- Proof or a certificate demonstrating that the applicant had already registered for accommodation in Austria before to arriving there.
