Study Opportunities in Luxembourg
Luxembourg is one of the European Union's (EU) smallest countries, but it is home to some of the world's greatest universities. While the country's capital, Luxembourg City, is home to a number of privately managed higher education institutions, Escg-sur-Alzette is home to the public University of Luxembourg, which is one of Luxembourg's tuition-free universities for overseas students. Luxembourg's strong educational system allows international students to pursue studies in any discipline while receiving financial assistance through international scholarships in Luxembourg.
CEDIES Scholarships:
The CEDIES provides financial help from the Luxembourg government to all students enrolled in higher education who meet one of the following criteria:
* They are Luxembourg nationals or are family members of Luxembourg citizens who live in Luxembourg.
* They are citizens of a member state of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA), or the Swiss Confederation who work or live in Luxembourg as a salaried or self-employed worker, as a person continuing to work in this capacity, or as a family member of one of the above-mentioned categories of residents, or as a permanent resident.
* They are third-country nationals or stateless people who have lived in Luxembourg for at least 5 years and obtained a secondary school diploma from the Luxembourg Ministry of Education.
* They are registered as political refugees in Luxembourg and live there.
* They are the children of a Luxembourg citizen, a national of a member state of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA), or the Swiss Confederation who has worked or carried on a profession in Luxembourg for at least 5 years and for at least 50% of the legal or contracted number of working hours.
The government's financial aid is in the form of a loan and a scholarship with a fixed rate of 2%. It costs €13,000 a year for a full academic year. It cannot be combined with any financial help received in the student's home country. A scholarship of €1,025 and a student loan of €3,250 make up the half-yearly sum. Enrollment fees, up to a maximum of €3,700 per academic year, may also be included. The programme for which you are applying must meet the following requirements:
* The course of study must result in a diploma, title, or degree from a higher education institution (1st cycle, 2nd cycle, research training cycle).
* The course of study must be part of the country's higher education system in order for the title to be awarded.
Every semester, from the 1st August and the 30th November for the winter semester, and the 1st January and the 30th April for the summer semester, applications are open (even if you are registered annually). Non-resident students should apply for financial aid in their home country as soon as possible.
