Things to keep in mind when writing your dissertation
Now we have reached the stage in the year where most of us are either finished our degrees or starting one soon. This article is intended for those individuals who are in the final years of their research or are expected to apply their dissertations in the near future. Your dissertation is one of the largest chunks of the final grade of your degree, so be careful about all the little details and make sure you have it right to get the grade you want.
You would only have between 10,000 and 20,000 words to compose while writing a dissertation. This sounds a lot, but when designing your research and case, you will find it to be a very small amount to work with. But it makes sense to stick to the right bits of data and build your argument on that. But in areas that may be remotely connected to your subject, this does not stop you from researching over and beyond. Not only will this give you ideas about what to add or not, but it will also allow you to see things from a wider perspective.
Do not presume at any point in the essay that the reader already knows what you're talking about. Define everything in your essay that you're talking about and construct a case from scratch. Refrain from using terms and phrases that are too abstract and you are not familiar with their meaning and use. This will save you from referring to stuff that will make you look dumb in an offensive or incorrect way. There are several referencing systems and processes, with the Harvard referencing system being one of the most common. Ask your counselor which one you can base the bibliography of your essay on. The most important thing is to regularly use only one method of referencing in your dissertation.
It is better to be prepared for all matters than not to be prepared. In particular, in subjects as serious as your dissertation. Many people abandon the last minute reference, assuming it wouldn't take too long. However, referencing takes up a huge chunk of your time , leading to a pause in your submission. You will be exhausted and more likely to make mistakes if you work late, which will keep you from finishing your guide. So, finish well in time and leave a lot of time to handle any unforeseen events.
