Things to know about Spain Travel Health program
A number of sanitary and hygiene protection initiatives have been introduced by the Ministry of Health of the Government of Spain to protect the health of its residents and of all people who travel to Spain. One of these steps is the Spain Travel Health Program (SpTH), which provides a protocol for health control at Spanish airports for all citizens traveling to Spain from other countries as of 1 July 2020.
From July 1st, 2020, if you are flying from another country to Spain, you must know that it is mandatory to fill out and sign your trip-related Sanitary Control Form (FCS) and ensure that you travel for that trip with the QR Code. With the exception of the sections corresponding to health questions and travel history, which will be available when you have 2 days left to arrive in Spain, you can start filling out the form at any time before your trip.
As of 23 November 2020, all passengers coming from a high-risk country with regard to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus must apply a NEGATIVE AIDT result certificate (RT-PCR or other equally reliable molecular techniques for detecting viral RNA, such as TMA, RT-LAMP) to enter Spain within 72 hours of your travel. There is no provision for children under 6 years of age to take this exam. You may consult the countries/zones considered at risk in the following page, which are countries/zones at risk.
Each passenger is required to complete the form and to have the corresponding QR Code. The FCS is a Sanitary Control Form; according to its initials. It is focused on public health and aviation organizations' international efforts to protect the health of travelers and residents. As part of the mandatory health control measures for travelers from other countries in the sense of the health emergency triggered by COVID-19, this model has been adopted by the Government of Spain. The goal is to determine the health status of travelers upon arrival in Spain and, if possible, to ensure their traceability. For example, they are known to have been in close contact with a reported case of COVID-19, or with another communicable infectious disease, which could put everyone's health at risk. This form consists of 5 parts containing personal information queries, contact information for the traveler, travel details and a health statement to pass the health check upon arrival in Spain.
The information given shall only be used by the Spanish health authorities in compliance with the purposes set out in the Spanish health control legislation and always with a view to protect their health, that of other passengers and that of all citizens.
