Spain is the kind of students' dream when it comes to studying abroad. Many sun-deprived undergrads dream of studying abroad in Spain because of the Mediterranean climate, beautiful beaches, dynamic culinary and music culture, and opportunities for language immersion. What about the student budget, though? Is studying in Spain a goal that can be realized by people who are striving to save a few Euros? It is not only possible to study in Spain for a low cost, but it is also possible to study in Spain for free!

Study in Spain, but stay away from the larger cities.

With 76 institutions, not to mention various language courses and other educational programs, Spain is a large and diversified country. You don't have to confine yourself to the cosmopolitan but costly cities of Madrid and Barcelona. Instead, seek programs in smaller cities and towns such as Bilbao, Granada, or La Coruna, in which both tuition and living expenses will most likely be less expensive.

Choose a program that offers a homestay choice with meals.

A homestay is a good choice because your daily expenses will cover the majority of your charges. If your chosen program allows you to stay with a local Spanish family, your housing costs may be less than if you shared a rented property. In addition, many homestays include multiple meals and even laundry services. Homestays are also a fantastic way to deepen your immersion in Spanish culture while maintaining your lodging expenditures in the local economy.

Schools with high tuition fees should be avoided.

Different study abroad programs in Spain will have variable tuition fees, just like they do at home. Maintain an open mind about where you want to study and research for the most affordable program fees. Investigate small educational exchange programs or direct enrolment at a Spanish university.

To study in Spain, seek scholarships.

This is self-evident. Apply for any scholarship you are eligible for if you really want to study overseas in Spain for free or as near to it as feasible. You must prepare ahead and claim for external funds to be considered.   Visit your home college's scholarship or study abroad office to see if there are any scholarships available, and, of course, conduct your online research. Make sure to look into international student scholarships in Spain at the host school you're considering.
