Tips to make your first study abroad travel a breeze
Travelling, whether for fun or reaching your study destination, can cause a lot of hassle. Moving tons of possessions; using new forms of public transport; getting to where you have to be, etc. Everything can be a little overwhelming, particularly if you are on your own. Plus, there is the emotional factor of leaving behind friends and relatives. And what will you do to ensure you arrive in your new country safely? There are a few tips here.
Make sure that every step of the path you are going to take is understood. Read your airline itinerary carefully so you know about any layovers you may be expecting. Travel planners, such as Google Maps, can be used to educate you of how to navigate different routes and modes of transport from point A to point B. Your university will also have information on their website about how to access their campus once you arrive in the country.
For a few hours, you're going to be in the air, so make sure you're comfortable for the duration of your flight. Wearing loose clothing, you'll be perfect. Keep a scarf, fleece or jacket with you as the cabin can get chilly in the air. To stimulate blood flow in your body, especially in your legs, take a walk around the cabin every 2 hours, because you will be sitting for a long time in the same place.
Always keep an eye on your belongings while travelling, especially at airports and train stations. Thieves are everywhere, especially where public places have a lot of distractions. Assure the bags are zipped up and also padlocked in the case of suitcases. However, to prevent them from being mistaken as lost property or a potential explosive, all luggage and belongings should also be kept close by.
You may not have easy access to any funds you have in your bank account while travelling or when you arrive in a foreign country. Do have a small sum of money in cash on you in the case of emergencies. Keep this in your pocket, either on you or in a moneybag. This could be beneficial if you need to buy a particular item in an emergency, or if you need to arrange for additional transport or a place to stay if your trip is delayed. It doesn't have to be much, because it can be risky, but it just needs to be enough to make it through an emergency.
To help pass your time traveling, you've already packed some devices for playing, listening or watching. However, make sure that you choose your moments carefully as to when to use them. When you are waiting for important announcements on an overhead speaker, it is probably best not to be distracted by loud music or a video game. Therefore, these are few tips that can ensure a smooth travel to your destination.
