A Guide to Getting Your Student Visa for Denmark
Danish universities are renowned as innovation pioneers and are keen on investing in world-class research facilities. And why don't you want to study in this place? Denmark is the happiest place to study abroad, so if not in the first place, it should be in your top three.
Three months prior to your arrival date is the perfect time to start applying for your residency permit. The total length and processing times which differ depending on your nationality, considering how certain documents need to be signed, sealed, shipped, or biometrics need to be submitted.
- Below are some of the documents you need to send during the residency permit application process:
- Evidence of language literacy in English
- Proof of payment of residency permit fee (255 EUR)
- Proof that you have ample funds (around 1,000 EUR/month) for your stay in Denmark
- Your university's acceptance letter
- A signed and filled-in request form
- A valid passport or other form of travel document
- Photo of a passport
- Protection for flights
- Detailed details about your programme of studies
- Evidence of arrangement of accommodation during your studies
As a foreign student, under the following legal conditions, you are permitted to work in Denmark:
- Non-EU/EEA and non-Nordic students are permitted to work 20 hours a week between September and May and 37 hours a week from June to August in Denmark.
- Without restricting the number of hours, Nordic, EU/EEA or Swiss citizens can work in Denmark.
Permission is automatically issued with a residency permit for this scope of work.
