Studying in Austria is one of the best places to get the highest education at the low prices. For travel for Austria the visa process isn't that difficult. Let's look at the details surrounding visas to study in Austria. Firstly, all those interested in studying in Austria for less than 6 months must apply for a visa at an Austrian consulate or embassy.

• Visa C: Allow you to stay for a period of 90 days in Austria and all other Schengen countries; it is not mandatory if you are eligible to enter Austria without a visa.

• Visa D: for stays of 91 days or more up to a limit of 6 months.

If you are planning to stay for more than 6 months, students within Austria may apply for a residence permit (after legal entry). After legal entry and during legal residency, you can either apply for a residence permit for students at the competent Austrian representative authority in your country of residence or at the appropriate residence authority within Austria.

Be sure you have to apply your application at least 3 to 6 months before your expected arrival in Austria. Please notice that due to potential necessary legalization and transfer of your papers, you may need to start plans early.

You also have to prove that you have sufficient financial means to finance your stay: students up to the age of 24 must prove they have at least 515,30 Euros per month; Students aged 24 or over must show that they have at least 933.06 Euros a month [as of 2019] – these sums must be proven over a period of 12 months – e.g. by means of a savings account or a bank account (the account must be available from Austria); a Statement of Commitment from a person residing in Austria; proof of procurement of traveler's checks for the amount required; Or acknowledgment of grant / stipend contract.

Finally, with respect to visa renewal, it is possible to renew only residency permits and settlement permits in Austria. Always remember that you have to apply for a renewal before expiry of the original permit.
