European Research Council funds research project at Freie Universität Berlin with almost two million euros
The art historian at Freie Universität Berlin, Juliane Noth, has received an ERC Consolidator Grant of around 1.955 million euros from the European Research Council (ERC). This will support the professor of East Asian art history at the Institute of Art History for her research project "Art Academies in China: Global Histories and Institutional Practices" (CHINACADEMY). With the five-year project, she and a team of three researchers will examine the role of art academies in 20th-century Chinese art. With the ERC Consolidator Grants, the European Research Council supports promising scientists whose doctorate was between seven and twelve years ago and whose working group is in the consolidation phase.
