Estonia Facilitates Cross-Border Movement With Lithuania, Latvia & Finland
Estonia’s government has announced that it will remove the obligation of quarantine for persons arriving in the country from Lithuania, Latvia and Finland, in a bid to facilitate cross-border movement. The decision has been put in place on September 28, while based on the current procedure citizens arriving in Estonia from Lithuania, Latvia and Finland will be required to self-isolate for 14 days, only if the COVID-19 infection rate per 100,000 persons is 25 or more, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.
Persons wishing to travel to Estonia from other Schengen or European Union countries must follow quarantine rules if the Coronavirus rate is between 16 and 17.6 and has not marked an increase in the past 14 days. Earlier this month, VFS Global announced that several Estonian Visa application centres abroad had reopened, enabling the citizens of a few third-countries to apply for a visa.
Authorities in Estonia have also updated the entry and stay rules for internationals who work or study in the country. Estonia’s Minister of the Interior Mart Helme during a government session revealed that he presented the draft amendments to the Aliens Act, while the country’s government will send the draft to the parliament for further processing.
More than 3,300 persons have tested positive for the Coronavirus pandemic in Estonia, while 64 persons have died, up to this point, according to Worldometers’ statistics.
