EVERYTHING ABOUT VISA AND STAY BACK AFTER STUDY IN FINLAND

Here is some general information that every international student should know before you start.
Finland Immigration issues the Student Visa in Finland, and if the student opts for a course with a period of more than 90 days, students are expected to apply for a student visa, which is valid for one year for most cases. If you want to extend the permit, you can apply for the extension at "Finnish Missions"-Foreign Affairs Ministry. The visa is the permanent residency card, and it allows students to work and study in Finland without any separate authorization.
In Finland students who are pursuing their research are permitted to work, study and work. However, as in many countries, the hours students are required to work are limited. International students holding a student visa in Finland are permitted to work in a part-time job, which does not exceed 25 hours of work per week. Even the students are only permitted to work in their field of study related jobs. The hours worked during the breaks are not limited to 25 hours.
A separate permit is required for the Stay Back and for work after study in Finland. The foreign students who are staying back in Finland can apply for two forms of work and residency permits:
- Residence authorization to find work in Finland after research
- Residence permit on work basis in Finland
Students can start applying for a residence permit before their study permit expires in Finland, as the processing period for the residence permit can be between 30 and 150 days anywhere. Students are eligible to apply to Finland’s designated local authorities through the Finland Immigration Services. In order to apply for universities in Finland, there is a procedure to follow which one must obey. The basic criteria include prior certificates of education and language criteria to meet, accommodation letters and application essays depending on the course and universities. Some universities request the entrance tests and their results.
