Finland Application Requirements for Schengen Visa

There are various types of visas that will apply on that day, depending on the intent of your trip to Finland. Whether you plan to visit, study or work and reside permanently in Finland, you will need to apply for a different Finnish Schengen Visa as appropriate. Since 2001, when Finland became a Member State of the Schengen Region as an EU Member State, one can apply for the Finnish Schengen Visa.

General documents required for a Finnish Visa Application:

•          Download the application form and fill it in with complete honesty. You may also electronically fill out the Finland Schengen Visa application form and print a hard-copy afterwards.
•          2 images must be attached; the passport style photo should be a recent full-face capture with a light backdrop. Learn more about Finnish Visa photo requirements and specifications.
•          It needs your passport and copies of your previous visas, valid for at least 3 months after the date of return. There must be at least two blank pages on your passport.
•          A copy of your reservation for return-ticket. The purchase of the ticket before obtaining the visa is not recommended, if not otherwise necessary.
•          Travel medical visa insurance confirmation of a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000 within Finland and the whole of the Schengen Region
•          A cover letter detailing the intention and itinerary of a visit to Finland
•          A copy of the dates and flight numbers of your return-ticket reservation specifying entry and exit from Finland. The purchase of the ticket before obtaining the visa is not recommended, if not otherwise necessary.

•          Civil status proof (marriage certificate, birth certificate of children, death certificate of spouse, ration card if applicable)
•          Subsistence Means-Evidence of adequate financial means for the time of stay

In addition to the general documentation needed, other additional documents should accompany you, depending on the intent of your application for a Finnish Visa. Students must have an enrollment certificate enabling them to attend classes, completion certificates or courses attended and financial help without fail when it comes to visas for study, training, research or other kinds of internship purposes.
