Government scheme revolutionizes the post-study visa process in Schengen countries
The Schengen Home Office has unveiled a new scheme to streamline the application process for an international postgraduate student visa. It has been revealed after trailing the scheme at four top universities that a further 23 universities will be involved in rolling out the new visa plan – creating a list of 27 institutions that will be able to offer the new visa process.
The new method aims to make the process of applying for a visa easier and faster. As well as having to send fewer papers, a greater amount of support will be provided to postgraduate students in Europe who wish to pursue work in the country after they have completed their degree. It'll sound like an easy piece of advice, but that's really important. University work can keep you busy but you need to spend some time searching for jobs. Most effective Tier 2 Visa applicants would have a guaranteed work offer to pursue their studies. Apply in your final year of university as early as possible so that you have time to get to grips with the graduate recruitment cycle in Europe, and you can improve your application throughout the year.
Further assistance will be offered in transferring visa forms, and the student will be granted a six-month period after graduation, so that they can stay in Europe in search of a career. Dan Stephenson, International Recruitment Associate Director at one of Europe's top universities said: "News of the inclusion of the University in the latest pilot scheme is received very positively by our students as well as by our partners in overseas.
We are aware that returns on investment and exposure to industry are major factors for international students as they make their decisions on where they should study. The 6 months leave to remain in Europe beyond their class-end date now available to our master's students would give them more time to take advantage of exciting post-study opportunities while reducing the number of checks they had to manage during the visa application and admission process.”
