How to Apply for a Schengen Visa from Australia
Residents of the Australian country and continent remain some of the top travelers in the world, with Europe, among others, as one of their favorite destinations. Recent statistics indicate that, for 11-16 days, Aussies are very likely to stay in Europe, visit and experience European life. Despite the fact that Australian passport holders do not need a visa for short stays in Europe, some foreign residents living in Australia need a Schengen visa, depending on their nationality, in order to be able to enter 26 European countries, 22 of which are part of the EU group. Despite the fact that in order to enter any of the countries which are part of the Schengen Agreement, Australian passport holders do not need a Schengen visa, they still need to present a few documents when they arrive at the border. These documents are as follows:
- Australian passport, valid for at least three more months after your intended stay in the Schengen region.
- Proof of your travel plans
- Proof that you have the requisite financial resources to support yourself in the Schengen countries during your stay.
- As well as other documents that you plan to visit, as explicitly required by each country in this region.
If you need to apply for a Schengen visa, it all depends on the Member State(s) you are visiting, as well as the amount of days you expect to spend in each country if you are visiting more than one country. As for any other visa to anywhere else in the world, when you apply for a Schengen visa in Australia, you will have to send some necessary documents. These documents are required to show that when your visa expires, you have no intention of staying or secretly operating in the territory, as well as to demonstrate the real reason for your trip and whether you have the financial capacity to hold yourself there during your stay. As a rule, visa applicants are required to apply no earlier than three months prior to their planned travel, and no later than two weeks prior to their trip. You are strongly encouraged to submit as soon as you can.
Australians will be subject to the European Travel Information and Authorization Scheme from January 1, 2021, which means that, along with nationals of visa-free countries with Schengen Member States, Australians will have to apply for an ETIAS before travelling to the Schengen Region.
