Indian Students Can Now Apply for French Short-Stay and Long-Stay Visas
Indian students who have been admitted at a French education institution in France, and hold the necessary paperwork can now apply for a visa to France for both short-term and long-term stay, on study purposes.
The decision has been announced by the French Ambassador to India Emanuel Lenain, who said in a tweet that students from India would now be able to apply for short-term and long-term stays in France for study purposes.
It has also announced that since August 17, seven VFS centres (Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kochi) became operational to receive select visa applications, while complying with Indian travel regulations as well as the safety of the consular teams working in different parts of India.
Students, and the rest of categories exempt from the French entry ban on third-country citizens, must have an attestation of international travel produced for the transport company before departure and during border controls, along with supporting documents.
Since August 1, passengers from India must present Covid-19 PCR test carried out less than 72 hours before departure from India, upon arrival in France. Only children under the age of 11 are exempted from this requirement.
In a bid to help Indian students who wish to apply for a study visa to France, pre-departure sessions called ‘Bienvenue en France’, have been scheduled online from August 22 to 31. These sessions will familiarize students with essential administrative procedures, ways of finding accommodation, tips from alumni, information about their destination, and practical advice to help them prepare for student life in France.
Previously this month, SchengenVisaInfo.com announced that nearly a hundred Indian students might have to give up on their plans to study in France, after French visa centres in India in charge of visa issuance, remained closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
