International Students Can Enter France as of July 1
The French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has invited international students who need to travel to France for study purposes to do so as starting from July 1, pointing out that the consulates abroad will also start processing residence permit applications as a priority from the same date.
“Attention, international students! As of July 1: visa and resident permit applications will be processed as a priority – you’ll be allowed to travel to France, wherever you’re travelling from,” the Ministry tweeted.
Whereas, a press release of the Ministers, published in the French MFA website, explains that in line with the European Commission’s recommendations announced on June 11, France will progressively start to open its Schengen Area external borders from July 1.
“This will occur gradually and in a differentiated manner depending on the health situations in third countries, and in line with the European procedures to be issued by that time,” the press release reads.
At the same time, it notes that due to the importance of the attractiveness of French higher education, international students will be allowed to travel to France, regardless of their countries of origin, and visa procedures will be facilitated.
“Visa and resident permit applications will be processed as a priority,” it further states.
On June 15, France lifted entry restrictions on for non-essential travel to France for citizens of the European Union and the Schengen Area countries, excluding only Spain and the former EU nation, the United Kingdom.
