Italy Reopens More of Its Visa Application Centres Located Abroad
After reopening several visa application centres located in third countries back in July, Italy has reopened additional centres, though in the majority of them services remain limited.
The reopening of the other Italy visa application centres has been announced once again by the VFS Global, an outsourcing and technology services company that serves governments and diplomatic missions worldwide, and to which the Italian authorities have outsourced visa services in several world countries.
According to the announcement of the company published on September, as a part of its “COVID-19: CUSTOMER ADVISORIES”, the Italian Visa Application Centres in some countries, have now resumed National (D type) visa applications, alongside passport pass back services, which were resumed back in July.
At the same time, the centres in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and Jakarta, Indonesia, have both resumed accepting applications for short term and long term stay visa to Italy.
The centre in Melbourne, Australia, on the other hand, is accepting emergency case applications only, operating from 9 am to 3 pm.
According to the notice, the VFS Global centres for Italy located in Edinburgh, Manchester and London, the United Kingdom have resumed operations. While the centre in Edinburgh is operating at reduced hours, the centres in Manchester and London are accepting limited short stay applications.
In China, the centre in Beijing is currently accepting applications for exceptional cases, the centre in Guangzhou is accepting short stay applications, whereas the one located in Shanghai is accepting long-stay applications, and the one in Chongqing is accepting limited long-stay category applications.
Currently, entry to Italy is reserved only for citizens of the European Union (Italy included), the Schengen Member States, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City, and non-European Union citizens (third-country nationals) holding long-term residence status in a European Union country.
Residents of the following third countries can also enter for whatever purpose: Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, Rwanda, Republic of Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, and Uruguay.
Nationals of the rest of third countries can only enter for essential purposes as work reasons, absolute urgency, health reasons, study, and return to one’s home, domicile or residence.
