Lithuania will ban from entering the citizens of Denmark, Spain, Italy, Sweden, the Netherlands and the USA, from Monday, November 16, if they do not present the negative results of a Coronavirus test – not older than 48 hours – upon their arrival, the country’s Ministry of Health has announced.

The decision follows recent reports that the six countries mentioned above have discovered a mutation of the SARS-CoV-2 in minks, which is the same as the one found in humans, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

Lithuania’s Ministry of Health (SAM) clarified that the decision is being implemented on a temporary basis.

In addition, authorities in the United Kingdom also established a Border Force presence, in order to ensure that all persons arriving from Denmark in Britain would follow the latest imposed restrictions.

However, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Sweden, the Netherlands and the USA, are not the only countries in which the COVID-19 started to spread in mink’ farms. Authorities in Northern Greece have recently reported that minks at two farms have COVID-19. The announcement was revealed by Greece’s agriculture ministry.

In an effort to stop the spread of the deadly virus, earlier this month, Lithuania’s government added some regions of Britain, as well as Liechtenstein, Ireland, Switzerland and Slovakia to the list of countries considered to be profoundly affected by the disease.

The country’s Ministry of Health announced that the decision which took effect on November 9, obliges citizens of the countries mentioned above to self-isolate, upon their arrival in Lithuania.

A total of 33,387 Coronavirus cases have been reported as yet, in Lithuania, according to Worldometer. The virus caused the death of 266 persons in Lithuania, while there have been reported 25,424 active cases.

More than 7,600 persons have been totally recovered, after contracting the COVID-19 pandemic, in this country.
