New entrepreneurship training at LMU and University of Augsburg
The "impACTup!" program aims to promote sustainable entrepreneurial ideas to solve pressing social issues. The Free State finances it with two million Euros for four years.
Developing innovative, sustainable solutions for current issues in business, society, the environment and culture with entrepreneurial projects - students and employees of the LMU and the University of Augsburg can learn this in the future through the "impACTup!" program. Both universities will receive funding of two million Euros from the Bavarian Ministry of Science and Art to set up a study program to promote impact-oriented entrepreneurship, which will be integrated into the study plans. The four-year joint project is scheduled to start in March 2022.
The subject of "impACTup!" is a holistic approach to promoting entrepreneurship. Research, teaching and start-up activities should be linked and complement each other. The aim of the activities is to bring scientific topics relevant to entrepreneurship into the curricula and to convert research findings into practical applications. The activities at both universities should achieve a wide range, effectiveness and durability. They should have a university-wide effect and appeal to the members of all faculties, regardless of their professional background. "The special thing about this project is the planned interaction of teaching units at faculty level on the one hand and cross-faculty teaching units on the other. Professor Jelena Spanjol , head of the project and head of the Institute for Innovation Management and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at the LMU Munich.
Specifically, a multi-stage qualification program is being developed, set up and established at both universities. This should enable students and scientists to acquire resilient skills to start their own business that is economically viable, socially effective and ecologically sustainable. The basic element for this entrepreneurship qualification is formed by seminars and courses that are integrated into the course. Building on this, in-depth "impact boot camps" are held, in which the scientific basis of impact-relevant issues are developed. In the last stage, students and researchers are brought together with start-ups, business representatives and other social actors in impact innovation laboratories in order to further develop innovations until they are ready for application.
