The new advanced master's program in Sustainable Food Packaging at the UGent Campus Kortrijk prepares students to start working as experts in sustainable food packaging.

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important when it comes to food packaging. Both the food and packaging sectors therefore specifically ask for experts who know how to package food in a sustainable way. This training provides an answer.

For whom?

The English-taught master-after-master course lasts 1 year and is intended for people who are already working in the food or packaging sector, but also for Belgian and international students who have just graduated who want to specialize in sustainable food packaging.

Anyone with a master's degree is eligible, but sufficient knowledge of chemistry and mathematics is indispensable.

Modular and English language Sustainable packaging

The program has a modular structure. This allows students to spread the program over two or three years. Classes will be taught online, hybrid and on campus, in English.

Close contact with industry

Through case studies, field visits and guest speakers from companies, students regularly come into contact with current and concrete challenges in the industry. In their master's thesis, the students look for solutions for a specific research question of a company or organization.

The students will be able to test concrete applications in the brand new research building VEG-i-TEC. This is a 'living lab' on the Ghent University Campus Kortrijk that focuses on the vegetable and potato processing industry.

Info and registration

* View more information about the training at www.sfp.ugent.be.

* You can register via the UGent website . This is possible until April 1 for those requiring a visa, and until June 1 for those not requiring a visa.

The training was made possible thanks to a start-up financing from the Flemish Government, which wants to boost the lifelong learning offer in West Flanders.
