Quantum Communication Grand Challenge competition launched
With the "Grand Challenge of Quantum Communication" competition, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is funding seven research projects to enable secure quantum-based authentication in the future. The three-year research competition started on Thursday with a kick-off at the Technical University of Munich (TUM).
The research projects, the accompanying theoretical project and the competition originate from the guideline for the funding of IT security projects. They are part of the federal government's research framework program on IT security "Digital. For sure. Sovereign.” The aim of the funding guideline is a measurable improvement in a quantum memory or another system for the realization of quantum tokens. The duration of the projects is three years. During the funding measure, a success check is carried out by a specialist jury. The project selected by the jury should be given the opportunity to implement its solution through follow-up funding.
