Record Number of Finnish Citizenship Applications Filed This Summer

A record number of applications for Finnish citizenship were filed in the summer of 2024, right before the new citizenship rules came into force.
As of October 1, 2024, foreigners in Finland face more requirements when obtaining citizenship.
In 2023, a record number of citizenship applications was submitted, and this number is likely to increase in 2024 due to the pressure of the new citizenship law.
