The Nature Index 2022 places KIT in fourth place in Germany and in the top 100 worldwide. Top 3 rankings in several subjects

The Nature Index collects and publishes an annual database measuring research by institutions based on publication performance. In the most recent edition, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) occupies excellent places: KIT ranks 4th in Germany and 14th in Europe. In a global comparison, KIT is among the top 100 universities.

The database also offers the possibility of creating a differentiated evaluation according to the subject areas of chemistry, life sciences, earth & environmental and physical sciences. In physical sciences, the KIT occupies second place in a German comparison and is number 7 in Europe. The KIT achieves the 59th place worldwide. In the disciplines of earth and environmental sciences as well as chemical sciences, KIT achieves third place among German universities.
