Authorities in Switzerland have removed eight countries from their high-risk list, after concluding that the epidemiological situation in these countries permits such a decision to be taken, the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) has announced.

Citizens arriving in Switzerland from Belgium, Luxembourg, Mexico, El Salvador, Kyrgyzstan, Eswatini (formerly Swaziland), Oman and Kazakhstan will no longer need to follow the quarantine rules, imposed by Switzerland’s government, according to the FOPH’s recent announcement, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

On the other hand, the country has added Croatia, Guyana, French Polynesia, Lebanon, Paraguay, Libya, Trinidad and Tobago, San Marino, Ukraine, as well as the United Arab Emirates to its high-risk countries list.

Persons who enter Switzerland from countries considered profoundly affected by the Coronavirus outbreak must undergo ten days mandatory quarantine or else they risk to be fined.

Travellers from a large share of the European Union countries as well as from EFTA and the UK are currently allowed to enter Switzerland without the need to self-isolate; however, travellers from Switzerland to the United Kingdom must undergo two weeks of compulsory quarantine.
