New master's programs from the Faculty of Engineering
This year’s joint search includes three new English-language search topics, all of which are Master’s programs in the Faculty of Engineering: Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, and Health Technology.
The Health Technology program used to be one of the specialization lines of the Information and Communication Technology program, but it differentiated into its own program to better meet the needs of students and working life. The program focuses on measuring and analyzing health data and utilizing machine learning in health technology.
The Master's programs in Mechanical and Materials Engineering combine the ability to master the new technologies and methods brought about by the digital revolution with traditional technical know-how. In both programs, students have the opportunity to choose their specialization from three different lines: in Mechanical Engineering, Digital Design, Digital Manufacturing and Smart Systems, and in Materials Engineering, Health Technology Materials, Materials of Energy Technology and Modern Industrial Materials.
According to Mari Kahkonen , Head of the Department of Student Selection and Applicant Services at the University of Turku , the new international degree programs complement the university's multidisciplinary program offering.
- The field of technology needs more experts both in Finland and globally, and our new master's programs provide excellent skills to work in expert positions in the field. The new Faculty of Technology supports the university’s goal of building a sustainable future through multidisciplinary research and education. At the same time, the new program offering corresponds to the general goal of the university and Finland to increase the number of international experts in Finland.
