In addition to the high scientific quality of the research plan, the committee placed particular emphasis in its funding decisions on academy projects where high quality is combined with strong academic and social impact and scientific renewal. Funding for the Academy project will be used to hire a research team and other research costs.

Research projects of the University of Oulu that received funding from the Academy of Finland for the years 2022-2026:

Skolt Sámi Grammar for Skolt Sámi: Descriptive Reference Grammar of Skolt Sámi. (Ylikoski, Jussi), 491 453 e. The research project investigates Skolt Sámi, a seriously endangered Finnish indigenous language. The main objectives of the project are to describe 1) the grammar of modern Skolt Sámi, 2) the main features of its historical development, and 3) the main features of sociolinguistic variation. The project will result in 1) a comprehensive descriptive reference grammar, 2) nine research articles, 3) a collection of scientific articles, 4) two text collections, and 5) a dissertation.
