UAIC, on the first place among the higher education institutions in the country in terms of the number of "Eugen Ionescu" scholarship holders
The "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Ia?i (UAIC) is again this year on the first place among the higher education institutions in the country in terms of the number of "Eugen Ionescu" scholarship holders. Thus, 11 “Eugen Ionescu” scho larship holders, 6 doctoral students and 5 post-doctoral researchers from Cameroon, Congo, Egypt, Haiti, Madagascar and Morocco, will carry out research internships at UAIC in the coming months.
During the call for applications 2020 - 2021, over 300 candidates expressed interest in a research scholarship at UAIC, and 108 of them received pre-acceptance from UAIC faculties, thus entering the final competition. Following the evaluation made by the University Agency of La Francophonie, 67 scholarship holders were selected for research grants at the 25 Romanian universities participating in the program.
Since 2007, with the adoption of the Government Decision on the creation of a program of doctoral scholarships and postdoctoral research "Eugen Ionescu", "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iasi has actively participated in this program, providing a generous framework research of a significant number of PhD students and postdoctoral researchers from many countries in Africa, Europe and Asia.
In the 13 years since the implementation of this scholarship program, approximately 25% of the total number of over 900 scholarship holders funded by the Romanian Government have completed research internships in almost all UAIC faculties: Biology, Chemistry, Law, Economics and Business Administration, Philosophy and Social-Political Sciences, Physics, Computer Science, History, Geography and Geology, Letters, Mathematics and Psychology and Educational Sciences.
The countries of origin of the 199 fellows (113 PhD students and 86 postdoctoral researchers) hosted by UAIC during this period were: Algeria, Armenia, Benin, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Canada, Ivory Coast, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, France, Greece, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Republic of Moldova, Senegal, Slovakia, Togo, Tunisia, Ukraine, Hungary, Vietnam.
