UM Rector interviewed on Campus FM

University Rector, Prof. Alfred J. Vella, who has recently been re-elected by the University Council for a second term, was interviewed on Campus FM on 8 April 2021 by Colin Fitz, about his vision for the upcoming term.
During the interview on Campus Brunch, Prof. Vella emphasised that the University shall engage in more outreach efforts, whereby it will keep on improving its links to all industries.
“It is important for everyone to see that the University is not just the building situated at Tal-Qroqq and all the individuals walking in and out of campus every single day, but it is present everywhere through the invaluable research it conducts”, he said.
He also said that research isn't merely a luxury, but it is useful and necessary for not just the researchers themselves to reach their objectives, but also to help elevate the international profile of the University.
Asked about what his most important role has been within the 40+ years he has been part of the University community, Prof. Vella said it is the role he has as a teacher, educating students in the area of chemistry and encouraging them to advance in their understanding and research of the discipline.
